Interested in the Catholic faith?
Not everyone grew up in a Catholic environment from childhood. However, there are more who wish to convert and be accepted into the Catholic Church. This is a journey of faith, which often begins with a deep longing after truth, meaning and spiritual fellowship.
Initiation into the full communion of the Catholic Church takes place in a liturgical ceremony, where one confesses one's Catholic faith (confession) and receives the sacrament of confirmation. If you are not baptized, you will also be immersed.
Catechesis for converts
Before the actual initiation into the Catholic Church, there is a period when one
1) through teaching
2) and by going to church,
is being taught about the Faith and practice of the Catholic Church. And not least – gets to know the local congregation.
The course usually lasts several months and up to a year. When the teaching begins will be agreed with the priest and the convert.
It is worth noting that by attending classes, you are not committing to convert. It is always free to find out and say that one does not want to continue.
The word Convert means one who changes faith.
