Fr. Marc-Stephan Giese SJ

I’m Father Marc-Stephan Giese SJ. I studied philosophy and theology in Frankfurt–Sankt Georgen and in Cochabamba, Bolivia, und Rome. I entered the Society of Jesus in 2004 and in 2010 I was ordained a priest.

My path since then has taken me across quite a few worlds: I worked in youth ministry in Nuremberg, then spent time as a teacher and chaplain at the Aloisiuskolleg in Bonn-Bad Godesberg. From 2014 onward, I served as university chaplain and youth minister at the S:ta Eugenia parish in Stockholm, where I was also deeply involved in refugee ministry. It must have been there that I fell in love with the “North”.

After completing my jesuit formation in Bolivia, I spent several years working in Lebanon and Jordan — an experience that shaped how I think about faith amid conflict and displacement. Since 2023, I’ve been serving as university chaplain and responsible for RCIA (catechism classes for adults) in Potsdam.

This summer I have the great opportunity to come to the Färöer Islands for two Sundays in August. I am looking forward to meet you all and celebrate the Eucharist with you.
