Friday 17 November: Christmas Child Føroyar sent 3438 shoe boxes filled with gifts to children in Ukraine. Members of the parish participated again this year and donated 106 shoe boxes to the project. The boxes were blessed and prayers offered for the children who were to receive them during Sunday Mass on the final day of collection in Mariukirkjan. Many thanks to all who participated and supported this project.

Monday, 27 November: we received the sad news of the death of Clarita Villaceran Banzan. A removal service took place in Mariukirkjan on Tuesday, 12 December, after which her remains were taken to Denmark. Her funeral will take place later in the Philippines, her country of origin. We extend our sympathy to Lucita, Melanie and all their family. May she rest in peace.

Friday, 1 December: The parish received the news that Fr. Niels Engelbrecht, vicar general, has been named acting parish priest. He will make his first pastoral visit on 1-18 March 2024.

Sunday 10 December: A Christmas Bazaar was organised in Mariukirkjan by our Caritas Danmark representative, Rakul Guðjónsson, to support the Caritas Danmark Advent project helping families in financial difficulty in Denmark, Greenland and the Faroe Islands. The bazaar included items for sale, a raffle, an auction and refreshments, and was well supported. In all, almost kr.29,000 was raised. After the bazaar, 100 gift vouchers of kr.700 each from Caritas Danmark and Quality Street sweets from Poul Mikkelsen were distributed to families in financial difficulty on the Faroe Islands. A donation of Kr.15,000- from the students of Sankta Frans Skúli was also a welcome gift, enabling the organisers to add kr.150 extra to each gift voucher. A big thank you to all the young people for their kindness and generousity, and a special thanks to Rakul and her valiant team for all your hard work organising the bazaar and the distribution of the vouchers. You did marvellous work!

Sunday, 17 December: Sr. Florence organized the annual children´s party again this year. The afternoon started with a power point presentation of a Christmas story with Sr. Marisa and Christmas hymns with musical accompaniment by Heini, Taida and Kristina Margretha. Refreshments were provided by the parents who also took an active role in the games and teamwork! The afternoon finished with a Children´s Mass presided by Fr. Sigurd Sverri and during which parents and young people did the readings and intercessory prayers. Afterwards, Fr. Sigurd Sverri presented each of the young people with a small Christmas bag before they left for home. By all accounts, an enjoyable afternoon was had by everyone.
