Stella Maris is the largest ship-visiting network in the world, and the official maritime charity of the Catholic Church. In January 2021, the Scandinavian Conference of Catholic Bishops appointed Deacon David Noval as National Director for Stella Maris Nordic.
On Sunday, 8. August, David visited Mariukirkjan and led the Sunday Service of the Word with Deacon Christian Gabrielsen. He also took a few minutes to tell the congregation about Stella Maris and his hopes for further developing the organization in Scandinavia, including the Faroe Islands.
It is possible to get involved in the work of Stella Maris through prayer, donations, knitting for seamen, visiting ships, hospital visits, translating, and providing information and support.
David has already established good contact with Torleif Johannesen, who is the director of the Seaman´s Mission here on the Faroes.
