SUMMARLEGA

í MARIUKIRKJUNI!

fríggjakvøld 13.juli - sunnudagin 15. juli

SUMMAR CAMP IN MARIUKRIKJAN!

Friday 13th. to Sunday, 15th. July

Sisters Florence and Yolanda prepared an exciting and varied programme for the nine young people (6-13 years) who participated. David was their very able assistant!

Ballon creativity and traditonal games from Korea!

The young people ate and slept in the church hall. Although rumour has it that no one slept very much!!!

On Saturday morning, the young people worked on the theme of the Summer Camp: "God has created a beautiful home for us. Protect our common home".

It was inspired by the Story of Creation in Genesis 1

and by the Encyclical of Pope Francis called, "Laudati Si - On the Care of our Common Home".

In the afternoon, they enjoyed a treasure hunt in the nearby park. The wet weather was no deterrent for having fun!

This was followed by a visit to "Kerit where Sr. Florence explained various aspects of life as a nun!

Sr. Maria welcomed the young people into her room and showed them photographs of herself when she was their age!

In the evening, they walked to Svarta Fossi and back before enjoying the dinner prepared for them by Diana´s mother.

David and the young people take a short break

and enjoy the scenic surroundings.

The young people pray a decade of The Rosary

for all the children of the world.

The weekend finished with Sunday Mass during which the young people sung, did the readings and intercessory prayers, and brought up the offertory gifts.

After Mass, the young people and their parents enjoyed a delicious lunch together in the church hall. The food was prepared by the parents.

Special thanks to Sisters Florence and Yolanda, and to their assistant, David, for making this such a special weekend!

The young people hope to do it again... soon!
